Kearney Girls Fall to Grain Valley 58-24
/The Bulldog Girls’ basketball squad fought mightily against a state top-5 team last night but couldn’t overcome the 5-1 Grain Valley Eagles.
The Eagles led 27-14 at halftime. Kearney rallied to a 9-point deficit in the third quarter but couldn’t contain Grain Valley junior star, Grace Slaughter’s 36-point evening. Slaughter averaged 27.3 points per game last season. She leads the metro this year with 33.8 points per game.
Jadyn Barnes led the Bulldogs with 9 points and JoJo Kutch had 4. Freshman Ryleigh Van Emmerik and Kenzi Kutch were each 1 of 1 on 3-point shots.
The 0-5 Kearney girls host Liberty North next Wednesday in the Kearney Field House. 102.7FM will broadcast the live play-by-play action starting at 6:30pm.
