Knights of Columbus Lenten Fish Fry Returns

The Knights of Columbus in Kearney are continuing the tradition of their popular Lenten Fish Fry this spring. The Knights’ fish fry has been a tradition at the Kearney Church of the Annunciation Community Center since 1991.

Coordinator Mark Thomas said that this year, the fry will look a little different.

“We had to shift from a parish-wide effort to a different approach due to Covid restrictions, so we are opening up our very own drive-thru fish fry!”

The meals include a choice of fried swai fish fillets, baked cod fillets or shrimp. All three menu items are accompanied by fried potatoes, homemade dipping sauce and corn bread.

The Annunciation Community Center is located at 701 North Jefferson Street.

Drivers will follow in one of two lines of cars in the parking lot near the south side of the building to place their orders with a server. Then they will drive around to the west side of the building where a server will bring the meals out to the car.

The dates for the fish fry are February 19, March 5 and March 19, and will be served from 5:00 to 7:00pm. There is a suggested $8.00 donation per meal.

“All money raised from the fish fry goes back into the community,” said Thomas.

“We have supported events at the amphitheater, Special Olympics, Kearney Family Foundation, Kearney Food Pantry and the Kearney Senior Center.”
