Clay County Man Charged with Murder

A Clay County grand jury indicted 18-year-old Jraud D. Elliott in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on February 1, at the Phillips 66 gas station on Randolph Road in Kansas City.

Clay County Sheriff’s Deputies found a man, later identified as Kamari Hughes, at about 9:10 pm at the gas station. He died from an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

Elliott was arraigned and pled not guilty on one count of first-degree murder and one count of armed criminal action. Elliott faces life in prison without parole for the murder charge and three years in prison for the armed criminal action charge.

His next court appearance is set for March 18. His bond has been set at $1,000,000.
