Crapshoot Fundraiser is Back for a Second Year
/The Northland Therapeutic Riding Center is having its Second Annual Crapshoot Fundraiser on March 28, from 2–4 pm. The popular fundraiser can be attended in-person at 13608 Henson Road in Holt, or via live stream through their Facebook page.
Riding Center staff have marked off 500 squares in the arena and will let two horses walk around.
Participants are encouraged to watch and cheer as the horses wander about and randomly “plop” in one of the squares. The owner of that square will win the $250 prize. The prize money was donated by board members Bob and Linda Brandom.
“The crap shoot came about when COVID started last year and we weren’t able to hold classes,” said Northland Therapeutic Riding Center Executive Director Shaney Othic. “We thought this would be a fun event we could live stream and involve people in the Riding Center while they people were stuck at home.”
Refreshments will be available on-site for purchase and participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to the event. The Crapshoot Fundraiser will occur rain or shine, and social distancing rules will be observed.
Northland Therapeutic Riding Center’s mission is to improve the quality of life of persons with special needs, and create a sense of hope in their future.
Tickets are still available and can be purchased for $10 each or six tickets for $50 here. Riding Center staff will then send auto-generated numbers to the purchaser via email. Last year the Northland Therapeutic Riding Center sold 400 tickets and raised $4,250.
