Commissioners Visit Operation Safe
/Clay County Commissioners visited the Cerner campus in North Kansas City this month to tour and support the Operation Safe Vaccination Site. Operation Safe is Clay County’s community coalition that was created to safely and efficiently deliver COVID-19 vaccinations to Clay County citizens.
The initiative was launched by Liberty Hospital in collaboration with Cerner and the Clay County Public Health Center. In February Operation Safe announced collaboration with additional cities and health entities in the Northland.
Community leaders involved with Operation Safe have promoted the program, and encouraged citizens to participate.
“Our priority is to keep people safe, get folks back to work, and make sure our children get the education they deserve,” said Eastern Commissioner Megan Thompson. “That is why we are working hard to make sure everyone access to the vaccine.”
“The Commission is happy to support the Operation Safe coalition as they continue their work at this vital vaccination center, which is being held up as a model in the state of Missouri.” said Presiding Commissioner Jerry Nolte. “These efforts mean our businesses and schools can more quickly return to normal operations and our communities can return to sense of normalcy.”
Operation Safe has been named one of the highest throughput vaccination providers in the state, and has already delivered shots to over 50,000 Missourians. Missouri residents who are interested in receiving the vaccination and are currently eligible should fill out an interest form on the Operation Safe webpage.
