Kearney School District Celebrates 2021 Graduates
/Rain drops and thunder rumbles subsided on May 2nd as the Kearney School District celebrated the graduation of the class of 2021.
The weather forecast didn’t deter the commencement ceremony on Sunday. Instead of having the event outside in the stadium as originally planned, it was moved into the TDR Auto Plaza Fieldhouse.
Principal Andy Gustafson presided over the ceremony.
Gustafson started the ceremony asking graduates to reflect on everyone who has supported them over the years as well as the hard work they put in to get to graduation: “Even though you’ve had people who supported you throughout this journey, the accomplishment is yours and you should be celebrated.”
Superintendent Dr. Matthew Miller was next to congratulate the Class of 2021 with a speech encouraging them to find a solid support system in their lives: “You will stumble and you will fall, but what I hope you have learned as one of our students, is to find a team to that will help you get back on your feet and push you back up the hill,” Miller said. “Never stop building your team. They need you and you need them.”
The Class of 2021 recognized salutatorian Shelby Holst and valedictorian Bishop Lohman. The senior speech was delivered by Reed Beyeler. Beyeler encouraged graduates to, “find the people in their lives who made a difference and let them know that they made an impact.”
Gustafson presented the class to the Kearney Board of Education and administration, and the graduates lined up to receive their diplomas. Congratulations Kearney High School class of 2021!
