Community Hits the Greens for Golden Girls

The debut of Kearney High School Golden Girls Golf Tournament was a huge success as 30 teams faced off in a friendly competition on Saturday, July 24, at the Excelsior Springs Golf Club.

The tournament was started by Head Coach Samantha Anderson to raise money for the squad to compete at the Dance Team Union National Championships for the first time in school history.

Team of Liberty, Ross, Calier and Zeier

The team of KHS Principal Andy Gustafson, Kearney Middle School Principal Bart Woods, KSD Assistant Superintendent Jeff Morrison and Activities Director Dave Schwarzenbach donated their $200 Top Round award back to the squad.

Brent Williams won the putting contest against 11 other players. Mike Williams and B. Freeman won Closest-to-the-Pin trophies.

Community members also supported the Golden Girls by purchasing tournament sponsorships.
