Kearney Spring Election Candidates
/The filing window has closed for candidates running for the Kearney Board of Aldermen, Holt Board of Aldermen, and Kearney School Board in April. Voters who return to the polls will see a mix of incumbents and new challengers.
Kearney School District Board of Education
There are two seats open on the Kearney School District Board, and seven individuals filed for the positions. Current member John Kern is running for re-election. Facing Kern will be Len Broughton, Stacy Rule, Meredith Cole, Rocky Brock, Aaron Bowers, and Lydia Mack. Current Board President Mark Kelly is not seeking re-election.
Kearney Ward 1 and Ward 2 Alderman
For Kearney Board of Aldermen, in Ward 1, Gerri Spencer is running unopposed.
In Ward 2 David Lehman is running to keep his position. Lehman was elected to that seat in 2019. Marie Steiner is challenging him. Steiner was elected to Ward 2 Alderman in 2014, and served three terms before losing the seat to Lehman.
City of Holt Alderman and Fire Protection District Board
In Holt, there are two open seats up for election on the Board of Alderman. Five individuals have filed for the positions: James Misner, Pam Mick, Patti Pyne, Jeff Alley, and Leon Clifford.
The Holt Community Fire Protection District has one seat open on the Fire Board. Charlie Dawson filed for this seat and per the Fire Board there will not be an election for this position. Dawson will serve in this six year term.
According to the Clay County Board of Elections, the last day for write-in candidates to file in Clay County is March 25, 2022. Election Day for this election is April 5, 2022.
