Police Arrest Alleged Kidnapping, Rape Suspect

Timothy Haslett Jr. - charged with First Degree Rape, First Degree Kidnapping, and Second-Degree Assault

An Excelsior Springs man has been arrested and charged with kidnapping and raping a woman in a residence in the 300 block of Old Orchard Street in Excelsior Springs.

The suspect, Timothy Haslett Jr., has been charged by the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office with First Degree Rape, First Degree Kidnapping, and Second-Degree Assault.   

Excelsior Springs Police said they responded to reports of a woman crying going door to door looking for help at about 8 am on Friday, October 7. Police interviewed the woman and believed she was held against her will.

The woman told investigators that she was kidnapped and sexually assaulted. She also told officers that she may not have been the only woman there. The woman was transported to an area hospital where she is in stable condition. Officers searched the property but have not found other victims at this time.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the Excelsior Springs Police Department with the investigation. KPGZ News will update this story as more details become available.
