City Announces Summer Concerts at Amphitheater

The Kearney Parks and Recreation Department is proud to announce its summer concert schedule on the amphitheater stage. This will be the first full summer concert season at Jesse James Park for the City since 2019.

Kearney kicks off summer events at the amphitheater on Saturday, May 28, with the 14thAnnual Kearney Blues Festival. Kearney is inviting some very talented bands in the Kansas City blues community including Levee Town, Mike Bourne & Kansas City Boogie, and Womanish Girl for this event. Gates open at 4 pm, and the show starts at 5 pm. Tickets for the Blues Fest are only $5.00 in advance or $10.00 at the gate.

The amphitheater’s next event celebrates retired Kearney Police Chief Tom Carey with a free concert. The featured performer is Dennis Laffoon’s Great Balls of Fire – A tribute to Jerry Lee Lewis. This event will take place on Saturday, June 11. Gates will open at 6 pm, and the show will begin at 7 pm.

The third event of the season is A Dash of Bluegrass on Saturday, June 25. This concert features two popular bluegrass bands: the Missouri River Band and the Wood Valley Pickers. Gates open at 6 pm, and the show starts at 7 pm. Tickets for A Dash of Bluegrass are only $5.00 in advance or $10.00 at the gate.

The amphitheater’s biggest event is next on the schedule. On Sunday, July 3, the City celebrates Independence Day with a free concert and fireworks celebration. The city will have inflatables for the kids and music featuring X-Factor winner Tate Stevens. The concert starts at 7:30 pm, and the fireworks start at 9:30 pm.

On July 23, the Kearney Amphitheater brings in classic rock bands Shooting Star and Missouri. Gates open at 6 pm, and the show starts at 7 pm. Tickets are only $20.00 in advance or $25.00 at the gate.

The Kearney Country Showdown comes to the amphitheater stage on Saturday, August 6. This year, the Showdown puts Travis Marvin up against Noe Palma. This concert also features the Michael Neal Band. Gates open at 4 pm, and the show begins at 5 pm. Ticket prices are $10.00 in advance or $15.00 at the gate.

The final concert at the Kearney Amphitheater hosts classic rock tributes. On Saturday, August 20, Silver Bullet – A Tribute to Bob Seger will take the stage. Opening up for Silver Bullet is Goddesses of Rock. Gates open at 6 pm, and the show starts at 7 pm. Tickets are $10.00 in advance or $15.00 at the gate.
