The National Weather Service has upgraded a Heat Advisory for our area to an Excessive Heat Warning. This warning goes from Tuesday through 11 pm on Thursday, July 7. Heat index values up to 110 are possible.
Dangerous heat is possible through Friday. Monday through Wednesday temperatures will reach highs between 95 and 99 degrees. Heat index values will make it feel like 102 – 107 on Monday, and up to 110 degrees Tuesday and Wednesday.
Rain chances increase for Thursday and Friday, but don’t expect cool breezes. Thursday’s high temperature is expected to be around 95, and Friday and Saturday is expected to be about 91 degrees.
Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses to occur. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. To reduce risk during outdoor work, schedule frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9-1-1.
