Excelsior Springs Homicide Suspect Arrested

The Excelsior Springs Police Department announced on Thursday, September 8, that the suspect in a Wednesday morning homicide is now in custody. Keith Bass was arraigned on a $1,000,000 warrant in Texas around 1 pm Thursday.

Police received a call about a shooting just after midnight on Wednesday, September 7, at a residence in the area of N. Main & Grand. When they arrived, they found Theresa Bass and a man whose identity has not been released, on the front porch of the residence. Both Bass and the man had several gunshot wounds.

The Excelsior Springs Police Department says Keith Bass turned himself in and was arrested in Texas on Thursday. He has been identified as Theresa Bass’ estranged partner.

According to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, Keith Bass II, 48, approached Floydada Police Chief Reuben Ramon with a holstered handgun, and stated, “I just murdered my wife.” Bass allegedly confessed to Ramon that he had found his wife lying with another man and shot both of them. Ramon believes the holstered handgun is the alleged murder weapon.

Keith Bass has been charged in Clay County with first-degree murder, first-degree assault, and felony armed criminal action. He has yet to be extradited to Missouri.
