Five Candidates Run for School Board

The filing window has closed for candidates running for Kearney School Board this April. Voters who return to the polls will see one incumbent and four new challengers.

Five Candidates have filed for the three open seats on the board. Each board member is elected to a three-year term.

Bree Switzer is the only incumbent who filed to retain her seat on the board for another term. The other candidates who are running this spring are Nicolas Vasquez, Nancee Ruzicka, Richard Cawthon and Leonard Broughton. Broughton ran for a seat in 2022, narrowly losing a position on the board.

Current board members Brian Hamm and Dan Holloway decided not to file for the school board positions this term.

The top three vote-getters will be elected for this term. Election Day for these candidates is April 4, 2023.
