Deputy K9 Duke Nabs Alleged Fentanyl Trafficker
/The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reports that Deputy K9 Duke located a man who was wanted for allegedly trafficking fentanyl.
Deputies tracked the man, 24-year-old Billy J. Hall, to a house on NE 62nd Street in Gladstone on Monday, November 20. Deputies say when Hall saw the deputies outside the home, he ran inside and hid.
They searched the house when another occupant let them in. Inside they found a room with Hall’s name on the door. They found an attic access with freshly disturbed insulation inside the room’s closet.
Deputies opened the access and ordered the man to come out several times and also warned Hall that Duke would come up to get him. After no response from Hall, deputies hoisted Duke into the attic, where he quickly found the suspect and started pulling him toward the deputies.
The deputies were able to remove Duke and Hall from the attic and transported Hall to the hospital for treatment of the dog bite. Duke was rewarded with one of his favorite toys, a Kong.
Hall was charged with one count of trafficking drugs, two counts of delivery of a controlled substance and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. He is currently in the Clay County Detention Center.
