First Winter Weather Expected Saturday

It's almost December and that means it's time to keep an eye out for potentially hazardous winter weather.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from noon Saturday until 3 am on Sunday. A rain snow mix is expected to move into the Kearney area Saturday afternoon. Rain is expected to gradually transition to all snow after 3 pm on Saturday.Expected precipitation amounts should be less than one inch during the day.

For Saturday night, snow is expected to continue through 3 am. New snow accumulation of up to three inches is possible as the overnight low drops to 26 degrees overnight.

Most indications of snow will melt away on Sunday as the temperature reaches a high of 38 degrees.

Possible travel impacts include slick roads on Saturday night and Sunday morning. Drivers should plan on slippery road conditions and are reminded to slow down and use caution while traveling.
