Interchange Project Brings More Closures

As 19th Street interchange work progresses, interstate lanes and local roads will change and close throughout the process. Here are the latest road closures:

Nation Road Closure

Beginning Monday, February 27, 2023, crews plan to close Nation Road north of 144th Street to begin construction of the Nation Road roundabout near the new I-35 and 19th Street interchange.

As part of this work, Nation Road will be closed at 144th Street heading north towards 92 Highway.  This closure will be in place from approximately February 27 - July 1, 2023.

Please follow all detour and road closure signs while traveling in this area.

I-35 Lanes

Road crews also plan to reduce traffic to one lane on both northbound and southbound Interstate 35 between Fishing River Bridge and Route 92 in Kearney for construction of the new I-35 and 19th street interchange. These lane closures will take place from 4 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 4. All work is weather permitting.

This work is part a larger project, which is in partnership with the City of Kearney. MoDOT will construct a new interchange on I-35 at 19th Street (144th Street) approximately 1 mile south of Route 92.  The new interchange will cross over I-35 and will include ramps to/from I-35. The improvements will also include bike lanes and accommodate pedestrians with trails and sidewalks.
