Amazon Opens Second Facility in Liberty

Amazon opened a bulk item fulfillment center Tuesday in Liberty. The facility is more than 1 million-square-feet and is located in the Liberty Commerce Center on Withers Road.

Amazon said that the new facility will create more that 500 jobs and is currently hiring workers starting at $17 per hour.

“It’s a privilege to further our investment in Liberty to meet the growing customer demand for larger items in the Kansas City metro, while also creating career opportunities for the community,” site leader Jyoti Sharma said in a written statement.

Workers at the new Amazon facility will handle larger, bulky items that are usually longer than 96 inches or greater than 50 pounds. There is also a Amazon facility in the Liberty Commerce Center.
