Area Code for New Numbers in Western Missouri

A new area code has been approved by the Missouri Public Commission has been approved for communities in western Missouri. Parts of the 816 area code will be assigned a new 975 area code.

Western Missouri communities of Lathrop, Kansas City, Blue Springs, Plattsburg, Fillmore, Richmond, Odessa, Harrisonville, Adrian and some of the surrounding areas will be served by an overlay of the new area code in October. This overlay will not require current phone customers to acquire a new number or how calls are dialed.

Starting on October 13, people in these areas may be assigned a new 975 area code number when they request a new number or an additional line. Callers with a new 975 area code will still have to dial the full number for all calls like they would in the 816 region. This change will not affect prices, coverage areas, or rates and services.
