Excelsior Springs Fire and Police Rescue Suspect
/Excelsior Springs Fire Department assisted the police department to rescue a suspect who fell 30 feet and sustained serious injuries.
On Sunday, July 23, the man attempted to elude police by running in to a wooded area. He fell into a ravine and remained there overnight. Officers searched the area, but they were unable to locate him due to the dark and heavily wooded nature of the search area.
After the sun came up on Monday, police officers resumed the search and located the man in the ravine.
The fire department was called to the scene and they made a rope rescue to retrieve the man before thunderstorms rolled through the area. The man is being treated for serious injuries at a local hospital.
