It’s homecoming week and the Bulldogs are bring home the wins. Here’s your KPGZ Bulldog sports update.

Girls Tennis

On Tuesday, September 26, the Bulldogs hosted their last regular season home match vs Oak Park.

Kearney and Oak Park spent the evening trading games back and forth in some of the longest matches the athletes have competed in this season. It was a great night for tennis as Kearney ended the night with the win. Varsity 6-3 and JV 5-4.

Volleyball

The varsity volleyball team hosted Staley at home on Tuesday, September 26, and beat the Falcons in 4 sets. Madison Browning had 23 kills (hitting .275) and Reese Wood added 14 kills (hitting .357). Bella Ah-Mu contributed 24 assists and 9 digs and Kate Martens had 15 assists and 7 digs.

Brook Llewellyn was hitting .500 when she went down with an ankle injury during the second set and freshman Emma Vaughn stepped up and finished out the match adding 4 blocks. Caitlyn Wood and Josie Sparks added 4 blocks each. Mallory Jury had 8 digs and 4 ace serves including one to end the game.

Softball

On Tuesday, September 26, the varsity softball team played the Raytown South Cardinals for Senior Night. The Bulldogs won the game 15-0 in 4 innings.

Highlights:

Macy Morrow went 2-3 with 2 RBIs

Ryleigh Van Emmerik with 1-1 with 1 RBI

Kennedi Casey went 2-3 with 2 RBIs

Morgan Pennington went 1-1 with 2 RBIs

Jocelyn Lincoln went 1-2 with 1 RBI

Ella Herndon went 4-4 with 2 RBIs

Sela Lowrance went 1-3 with 2 RBIs

MaKalah Marler with 1-2 with 2 RBIs

Bri Reynolds went 2-3

Sela Lowrance pitched all 4 innings. She did not allow a hit and had 4 strikeouts.

The varsity's record moves to 17-5 and 3-0 in conference play.

Girls Golf

The Varsity Girls Golf Team competed in the 92 Showdown with Excelsior Springs, Platte County, and Smithville on Tuesday, September 26, at Excelsior Springs Golf Course.  Results below:

Boys Soccer

On Monday, September 25, the boys soccer team faced Winnetonka in the second conference game of the season. Tucker Jones opened the scoring in the 12th minute, then the goals came flooding in. The game ended 8-0 by mercy rule.
