Winter Weather Expected Through Tuesday

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for our area from noon on Monday through 6 pm on Tuesday.

The NWS is expecting total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches over the next 24 hours in portions of east central and northeast Kansas and central, north central and west central Missouri. Meteorologists also say winds could gust as high as 45 mph which will impact visibility and cause blowing, drifting snow.

The NWS advises motorists to plan on slippery road conditions. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility to a half mile in some locations. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

Slow down and use caution while traveling. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.

The NWS is also watching another winter system that will affect portions of the region late Thursday - Friday. Bitterly cold temperatures move into the area this weekend and into next week.
