Bulldog Sports Recap

The Bulldogs played some difficult teams this week and came up short, but there is a lot of time left this season. Here’s your KPGZ Bulldog Sports Update.

Boys Tennis

The Kearney Boys Tennis Team traveled to Excelsior Springs on Wednesday, April 12, to compete in a Varsity tournament. There were exceptional performances from the bulldogs, showing heart and grit against fierce competition.

Colton Pazdera and Leyton Ross: 4-0 on the day, taking FIRST PLACE in #1 doubles. They performed well on the day and had a match for first against a tough Warrensburg opponent.

 Nic Seuferer and Aiden Hansen: 3-1 on the day, taking SECOND PLACE in #3 doubles. These two haven't had a lot of match experience together, but they worked well on the court, communicating and encouraging one another.

Other athletes included Preston Murphy-taking 7th place on the day, Kaden Mansfield-going 2-2 and taking 5th place on the day, and Noah Plummer and Colin Thomson-taking 7th place on the day.

Girls Soccer

On Thursday, April 13, the Girls Soccer team traveled to Blue Springs to play a physically tough Blue Springs South team. The JV squad ended in a 1-1 draw with a goal from Kiki Baxter. The JV record is now 4-1-1.

The Varsity team played hard and battled many injuries throughout the game, but fell short 2-4 to the Jaguars. Bri Reynolds helped her team by scoring both goals for the Bulldogs.  The Varsity record is now 4-5.

On Tuesday, April 11, the girls soccer team traveled to play a tough Grain Valley squad. While the varsity girls fell to the Eagles 8-1, the JV girls came away with a 3-0 win. The Varsity goal was scored by Jillian Mueller. The JV goals were scored by Lauren Rose, Kylee Smith, and Ella Olberding.

Boys Golf

On Wednesday April 12, the Boys Golf team competed in a 9-hole match vs Liberty North at Winterstone Golf Course. Liberty North won both matches 159-190 and 179-200. Canton Woods was the low round for the Bulldogs shooting a 42.
