Excelsior Springs Police Officer Celebrates Special Day

After 21 doctor visits, 5 surgeries, 55 days of physical therapy, and passing all of the necessary return to work tests, Officer Stott will return to full duty with the Excelsior Springs Police Department; nearly 9 months to the day that he was shot in the line of duty.

By his side today will be the man who saved his life, his friend and brother in blue, Corporal Thornton. He has also worked very hard to overcome his own obstacles from that day.

On June 26th, for the first time since that day 9 months ago, they are back together, shoulder to shoulder, doing what they love, protecting and serving the citizens of Excelsior Springs, Missouri.

The Excelsior Springs Police Department released a statement which read, “On behalf of your ESPD family, we are so thankful this story has had this outcome. From the paramedics, to the doctors, to his family and friends, his parents, his wonderful wife, there are too many people to thank for making this day possible. We welcome you back with open arms and are proud to be standing the thin blue line with you again.”
